Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), School of Midwifery and Post Basic Nursing Programmes for the 2018/2019 academic session.

    • Accident & Emergency Nursing
    • Ophthalmic Nursing
    • Paediatric Nursing
    • Perioperative Nursing

Duration:

  • School Of Midwifery: 18 Months
  • Post-Basic Nursing Programmes: One Year

Admission Requirements

School Of Midwifery:

  • Candidates must be Registered Nurses with at least one year post qualification experience and with a VALID LICENSE.
  • Must possess five (5) Credits at ‘O’ Level in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Combination of results of not more than two (2) approved examination bodies i .e. GCE/WAEC or WAEC/NECO/.

Post-Basic Nursing

  • Applicants should possess the RN qualification (with or without RM), five (5) credits in WASC/GCE/NECO/GCE induding English Language, Mathematics and Biology at not more than two sittings.
  • Applicants who qualified from 2006 till date should have credit in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Two years post qualification experience and current practice licence issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria are mandatory for every applicant.

 Entrance Exam & Closing Dates.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION DATE:

Written examination will be conducted on the 16th June, 2018 by 9.00am at School of Post Basic Nursing (Human Resources Development Centre), Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi — Araba. Successful candidates are to bring along original copies of all relevant certificates for interview at the same venue from 2nd — 5th July, 2018.

While written examination will be conducted for School of Midwifery applicants on the 16th June, 2018 by 8.00am at Health Manpower Resources Centre, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi — Araba

CLOSING DATE:

The copies of the completed application forms, two (2) recent passport photographs, photocopies of relevant certificates and practice licence should reach the Administrative Office of the School of Post Basic Nursing not later than Friday, 10th June, 2018.

Sale and submission of application forms for School of Midwifery will close on 8th June.2018.

How to Apply

Post Basic Nursing

  • Application fee is N10,000.00 for Post-Basic Nursing Programmes only. Payment is by visiting the website: www.remita.net.
  • Click on pay a Federal Government Agency. On name of MDA, type Lagos University Teaching Hospital.
  • Then click on other LUTH Fees.
  • Follow the prompts to generate the ‘RRR` code. Thereafter, use the ‘RRR’ code to make payment at any Bank of your choice and submit your voucher or receipt to the Finance and Accounts Department, LUTH, where a receipt will be issued in place of the PRINT-OUT.
  • The photocopy of the receipt issued should be presented to the Ag. Head, School of Post-Basic Nursing.

School of Midwifery:

  • Application fee is N5,000.00 (Five thousand naira) only. Payment is by visiting the website: www.remita.net.
  • Click on pay a Federal Government Agency. On name of MDA, type Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Then click on other LUTH Fees.

  • Submit completed application form with photocopies of credentials, 3 passport photographs and photocopy of receipts enclosed in a Big brown envelope.

BASUG Part-Time Degree Admission Form 2018

The BASUG part time degree programme will run for a period of five (5) to six (6) years. All lectures for the part time studies will be conducted between weekends or from Fridays, Saturdays and sometimes Sundays. Further, the program may cover vacations.

Admission Requirements.

(A) Five (5) Years Part-Time Program :

  1. Candidates must possess WAEC/NECO Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC), General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O’ Level), National Technical Certificate/National Business Certificate with Credits in five (5) relevant subjects obtained at not more than two sittings.
  2. A credit in O’ Level English Language is required for all courses.

(B) Four (4) Years (Extended / Part-Time) Program:

Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) with at least Merit in two core/Teaching subjects, GCE ‘A’ Level, OND/HND in relevant areas with at least Lower Credit or Academic Diploma from recognized Universities are required in addition to (A) above.

UTME Candidates.

  1. Candidates are required to have sat for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) with a minimum score as approved by NUC and JAMB.
  2. They must also obtain a minimum of five (5) credit passes at not more than two sittings in WAEC (SSCE)/ NECO (SSCE) or NABTEB. These should include English Language, Mathematics and any three other subjects relevant to the course of study.However, for LL.B., the five credit passes should include English Language and Literature in English.

Direct Entry.

Direct Entry Candidates (200 Level)

  1. Candidates must have 2 or 3 subjects at A Level or JUPEB exam or HSC or ND or NCE or ATS results in relevant discipline. Candidates are also expected to have purchased the Direct Entry JAMB form.
  2. B.NSc., candidates shall, in addition to A(ii.) above, holdat least two A Level passes (Grades A – E) in Biology/Zoology and any one of Chemistry and Physics; OR the Registered Nursing Diploma Certificate (RN) of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria; OR a B.Sc. degree in any of the Biological Sciences at not lower than a Second Class Lower level.
  3. B.Eng., candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, holdat least two A Level passes, including Mathematics and Physics; OR National Diploma (Upper Credit) in Engineering.
  4. LL.B.,candidates shall, in addition to A (ii.) above, hold atwo or three-year Diploma certificate; OR at least two papers at Principal or Advanced Level in HSC, GCE or JUPEB; OR an acceptable bachelor’s degree.

Direct Entry Candidates (300 Level)

Candidates for these programmes should be holders of HND in their respective fields of study. HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics is acceptable for Computer Science while professional certificates such as ACA, ACIB, ACIS, ACIN and ACIT are acceptable for Business Administration, Accountancy, or Finance and Banking. This is in addition to A(2.) above.

Candidates who did not choose Achievers University in the JAMB UTME and Direct Entry forms can process admissions by  downloading the forms Here.

Or obtaining the forms at Achievers University, Owo or any of the screening centres. Such candidates are to pay a sum of N7,500 at Ecobank Plc – Account No. 5282011354 or at any of the screening centres.

However, candidates who chose Achievers University in their UTME and Direct Entry forms should attend the screening exercise with N1,000 fee. Complete the admission form and bring both the deposit slip and the form to the University Registry or scan and send via email to [email protected]

Postgraduate Programmes.

  2. MBA Business Administration (Professional)

General Admission Requirements.

PGD: Candidates must have a minimum of 3rd Class Division degree from Achievers University, Owo or any other recognized university in the proposed programme of study. Holders of professional diploma such as HND or equivalent are eligible to apply.

Sc: Candidates must have a minimum of a 2ndClass Lower Division degree in the proposed programme of study from Achievers University, Owo or any other recognised university.

MBA: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with at least a Second Class Lower Division from Achievers University or any other recognized university orprofessional qualifications such as ACA, ACIB, ACIS, ACIN or ACIT. Candidates with Third Class Bachelor’s degree or HND with a minimum of Lower Credit in a relevant discipline must have, in addition, a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 to qualify for admission.

How to Apply.

Eligible candidates are to pay a sum of N10,000 to Ecobank Plc Account No 5282011354 or cash at the Bursary of the University. Evidence of payment should be attached to the application forms, which should be submitted to the Office of the Registrar, Achievers University, Owo. Admission Forms can be downloaded Here. Candidates can also obtain the admission forms by paying cash at the Registry of the University.

Yobe is a state in the Northeast part of Nigeria. Its capital is Damaturu. A mainly agricultural state, it was created on August 27, 1991. Yobe state was carved out of Borno State.

Eligibility and Requirements.

To qualify for the 2018 Yobe State government Scholarship Award Scheme, applicants must;

  1. Be Yobe State indigene
  2. Have Five (5) credit grades in WASC/GCE/SSCE including Maths, English and 3 other relevant subjects obtained in one sitting.
  3. For undergraduate students, applicant must be a full-time (100 LEVEL) degree students of the under-listed courses in Yobe State (Yobe State University, Bukar Abba Ibrahim University, Federal University Gashua).

To qualify for consideration, applicants MUST submit an application with the following information:

  • Other Names.
  • Functional E-mail address and phone number.

And attach scanned copies of original:

  • Admission letter into institution with information on course of study, year of entry and duration.
  • SSCE/GCE O’Level Certificate.
  • Evidence of State of Origin / Local Government.
  • School ID card or National ID or Driver’s Licence or International passport.

How to Apply for Uganda Press East African Photography Award 2018.

Uganda Press East African Photography Award 2018The award’s aim is to promote the best of today’s photojournalism in East Africa, supporting visual literacy as well as encouraging a new generation of photographers by focusing on photographic education through their programmes. It also seeks to remind the viewing public of the importance of a vibrant press for democratic development.

Uganda Press East African Photography Award 2018

The Uganda Press Photo Award (UPPA) was conceived with support from the Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in 2012 as a competition for Ugandan photojournalists and photographers who work hard and sometimes take great risks so the rest of us can stay informed about what is happening.

Prizes.

  • Winners will get a Canon EOS BOD Kit

Eligibility.

  • Open to all photographers from 18 years of age who are citizens of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Ethiopia;
  • The Ugandan Press Photo Award will accept published and unpublished photographs;
  • All entries must have been taken between August 1, 2016 and August 1, 2018, and must be submitted by August 1. This will be confirmed via EXIF data.
  • Each entrant can submit up to 2 stories. For each story a minimum of 10, and a maximum of 20 photographs should be submitted;
  • Entry is free;
  • Members of UPPA & Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda, the judging panel and any family members cannot enter the contest.

Technical Guidelines.

  • Only photographs in digital form will be accepted. There should be no watermarks, identifying marks or names of authors written on the photographs.
  • Each photograph has to be saved as highest quality jpg, at 300 dpi, minimum 3000 pixels on the longer side.
  • Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization will not be accepted. Only minimal adjustments are allowed. The organizers reserve the right to ask for unedited images.
  • All photographs should include a caption (short description of who, what, where, when, why. Not more than 50 words per photograph. Include when and where the photograph was first published.) in the EXIF data/metadata.

Ian Parry Scholarship 2018 for Young Photographers.

Ian Parry Scholarship 2018The scholarship is in honour of Ian Parry, a photojournalist who died while on assignment for the Sunday Times during the Romanian Revolution in 1989. He was just 24 years of age. Aidan Sullivan, then picture editor, and Ian’s friends and family created the Ian Parry Scholarship in order to build something positive from such a tragic death.

This year’s Ian Parry Scholarship is divided into two categories: The Award for Achievement and The Award for Potential. The entry criteria for both are the same and the judges will make their decisions based on the individual merits of the entries. Last year the introduced a year long Mentorship Programme for the winner of the Award for Potential.

Benefits.

  • Each winner will receive $3,500 towards their chosen project;
  • A year-long personal mentorship is offered to one of the entrants. This year’s Mentor is the highly respected Photographer and former Ian Parry winner – Simon Roberts;
  • Canon will provide equipment to the winners;
  • World Press Photo automatically accepts the winner of the Achievement Award into its final list of nominees for the Joop Swart Masterclass in Amsterdam;
  • Your work will be exhibited in London as part of a large gallery exhibition and will appear in the Sunday Times magazine, who is a media sponsor.

Eligibility.

  • Open to young photographers who are either attending a full-time photographic course or are under 24 years.

Entry Requirements.

Entries should be accompanied by the following materials:

  • A covering letter including your name, date of birth, permanent address, personal email address, personal telephone number, and if applicable, college, course title and course tutor;
  • A detailed project proposal of your proposed project. It should be noted that this written section is considered extremely important. The judges will need to be impressed by your ability to produce a convincing project proposal as well as your photography skills;
  • A brief project synopsis (Please follow the instructions on our submit form carefully);
  • A portfolio of 12 (low resolution) photographs, either a photo essay or individual photos;
  • Captions for each image as a word document.
